Microsoft November Patches break ODBC

asked on December 8, 2022

Per Bleeping computer, Microsoft November patches break ODBC. Do we know if this impacts Laserfiche? And if it does, safe to suppress these updates until they are fixed by Microsoft?

The impact of the issue should be isolated to user-defined data sources using the SQL Driver specified in Microsoft's KB article (sqlsrv32.dll).

Laserfiche products use either SQL Native Client or .NET Framework Data Provider for SQL Server to connect to their corresponding SQL databases. Those drivers are not affected according to Microsoft's description of the problem.

So impact is likely isolated to individual lookup data sources in Forms and Quick Fields and query activities in Workflow.

You should read this KB article.

Thank you Blake!

I was hoping that Laserfiche Support will have recommendations on what Clients should do but the KB article just indicates the issue and it causes. No next steps?
