Adding Table Rows via Update Variable Value on Monitor Page

asked on November 7, 2022

I'm guessing this isn't possible, but just in case it is possible and there is just some trick to it that isn't obvious...

Is there any way, when using the "Update Variable Value" function from the Monitor Page to add additional rows to a table?  I know we can edit the values of the existing rows in the table, but I don't see any way to add additional rows.

I'm on prem version 11.0.2201.20436 by the way.

Thank you!

For anyone reading this post later…

According to some other posts (here and here) it looks like this functionality has been added with Forms 11 Update 5 in December 2023.

It is not supported to add/delete rows when update variable value. Can you share with us what is your use case?

This isn't the only use case I've encountered, but it's my main one:

I have a standard "notes" table I add to most of my forms.  It lists at the bottom of the form, includes date, name, and a notes field.  Our staff use this to comment on items, add explanations, make requests before sending an item for review, or returning it for correction, etc.  I also have Javascript set up to add a note when the form is completed - it adds a line with a comment listing the name of the task and the name of the Submit/Approve/Reject button that the user pressed - which makes for a great history within the form itself instead of referring separately to the logs of the instance.

However, I've had a couple dozen or so instances where staff (or myself) have realized moments after submitting a task that they meant to add a particular note on the form, and forgot, and want to add it now.

One of my favorite things since upgrading Forms earlier this year is the ability to edit the field values from the Monitor page when something needs to be corrected.  But this is one part of that functionality that I cannot do, and would like to be able to do.

Thank you!

Thanks for sharing the use case, we will add this feature request to our internal list and considering adding it in the future.
