Windows client won't open

Hi,

Some users are experiencing trouble opening laserfiche windows client on windows 10. When they double clic on the icon, it won't show the login screen and it does not show the laserfiche icon in the task bar. However, it launches a LF.exe process that you can see in the task manager for every time that you try to open it. There is no error log in windows event viewer. I know that the laserfiche is not opening off screen. I tried to repair laserfiche suite and it did not work. Uninstall/Install the latest version didn't work either. The only way too make it open again is to reboot the computer but even that does not work every time. It is very frustrating for the user. Do you have any idea what could cause that problem?

It sounds like the process is getting stuck on something. A process dump (which you can take from task manager) should show what it is waiting for. You'll probably need help from Support to interpret the contents, you can work with your SP to open a Support case.

We are running V 10.4 and are having the same problem with a couple of machines - had to give the user full admin access to get them going but this is not a permanent solution.  Was there a resolution for this?

The dump we got from the customer indicated that an anti-virus scanner was blocking the Laserfiche client from trying to delete a file. Anti-virus scanners are a common cause of performance problems, as are filtering firewalls. Temporarily disabling them is a good troubleshooting step. You might not keep them permanently disabled, but it can give your IT staff a good indication of the root cause of the problem.
