Drag multiple attachments from email into form's file uploader

posted on October 4, 2022

The file uploader in the new LF form designer appears to allow drag and drop operations.  However, in my testing, I have only been able to drag/drop one attachment at a time from an email.  If I select multiple attachments, nothing is dropped into the file uploader.

Would it be possible to allow dragging/dropping multiple files at a time?

Also, I have noticed that I cannot copy to the clipboard and then right-click on the file uploader to paste.  Would it be possible to allow pasting as well?

Thank.

Hi Mike-

I just tested and I'm able to attach multiple files at once. I'm using Forms 11 (self-hosted), Outlook, and Edge Chromium (probably works on Chrome, too, but didn't try).

Note: I've had issues with Firefox not working well with email/attachment drag & drop but we don't really use that browser in our environment.

Hi Pieter.  This could be an issue with my email client. We use HCL Notes (Formerly IBM Lotus Notes), and it will let me drag one attachment from an email to a target window but it will not allow multiple files to be dragged and dropped, not even to my desktop. I'll have to talk to our Notes administrator and see if there's a setting that can be changed to allow multiple file drag/drop.

I do believe that LF could improve the file upload container to allow pasting. Our users also like to use the snipping tool for screen grabs but they cannot paste from that tool into the file uploader container.
