Laserfiche Support for Row Level Security within SQL

asked on September 20, 2022

Hi All,

I just need to check, are there any plans in the pipeline for Laserfiche to support row level security within SQL?

So if you have a table with 100 rows, user A can see rows 1-50 and user B can see 51-100 and user C can see all 100?

We've run into this situation a few times due to super sensitive information that might be in a template field linked via dynamic lookups, and just wanted to check if this is something that could be considered.

If not, can I raise this as a feature request please?

Cheers!

Chris Douglas

Thanks Miruna, I thought that might be the case.

To expand on the technical side, row-level security cannot be easily (if at all) integrated with LFS's database session pooling because per Microsoft it requires setting the session context for a connection to the end user's identity. This would affect all other queries made through the same pooled session.

Thanks Sam, I totally understand why this would be very difficult, if not impossible to implement within the LF architecture, it's just the request comes up quite frequently, so needed to double check there wasn't any wizardry in the pipeline wink
