Question

How to assign the same value to a the Drop-Down Choice Value?

asked on September 16, 2022 Show version history

I am trying to assign multiple values similar to selection options in a Drop-Down (The values that I am trying to assign would correspond to the Fee that should be charged according to the user's choice. That is why in some cases it will be the same fee), but when I assign the value to them, and run the form, the similar values change inside the laserfiche field.

Example:

As you can see in the image, this is how i need it

But when I run the form, the values change like this

I need the values to stay with the values I assign them, not change with these _1 or _2 , etc. at the end of each value.

Any suggestion or help please?

Laserfiche Forms auto-updates the values to ensure uniqueness, I'd assume because otherwise there is no way for it to know which option was selected.

With any html form, not just Laserfiche, only the underlying value of the select is actually posted with the form submission so the "display" text is just for the user's benefit.

For example, if the value is "50" then there's no way for the page to know which "50" from the dropdown should be selected when you load the next task, save the form, etc.

If you want to do this, you'll need another approach, such as linking the options to a database and pulling the value with a lookup, or setting up some kind of calculation in a separate field to "clean up" the values.

You cannot, they need to be unique.

However I have done stuff in the past like changing it to 50.0 or 050.00 and the calculations do not care about the extra digits, or a formatted number field fixes it up.

I have carried out several tests, as you have proposed, but in the end it does not solve the problem, thanks for giving me your experience and time.

Could JavaScript be used?

Perhaps some solution that fills the data and values that are not handled by Laserfiche so that it does not normalize them as a single value and that the selection can also be stored in a variable that can later be used to make a calculation or show it in a message inside of the workflow?
