Question

Can LFFTS be used for different LF Servers?

asked on September 12, 2022

I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this question, but wanted to get verification before I go down this road.

We have 2 different Laserfiche Server installations. LFFTS is causing some performance issues on one of the servers so we will be moving it to its own server. Can I use LFFTS on the new server for the repositories that reside on both of the Laserfiche Servers?

The search engine is specified when a repository is created or attached. The wizard defaults to using the LFFTS instance on the Laserfiche server, but a different once can be specified. There's nothing preventing one LFFTS from hosting search catalogs from repositories on different LF servers.

The documentation doesn't spell it out because it's more likely you'd want to split out repositories to their own LFFTS servers for better performance than combine repositories from multiple LF servers into one search engine.

Thank you for the link Yuan. The article talks about distributing the LFFTS service to a different server than the LF Server, but I don't see anything stating that I can use that LFFTS service for multiple Laserfiche Servers. Interestingly enough, it specifies that if you have more than 1 repository you can install the LFFTS service more than once and assign each instance a repository.
