Question

Saving & Retrieving Multi Line Fields to Lookup Table

asked on August 11, 2022

Hello,

Is there any method anybody knows (either officially through selecting the right settings or unofficially using Calculation/JS/etc.) to save a Multi Line field to a Lookup Table in such a way that it doesn't create line break tags <br> when saving (and ideally pulls back as multiple lines)?

Saving the 'INSERT' field to the Lookup Table results in the 'SELECT' field value after pulling from the Lookup Table

This bug has been fixed with Forms 11 Update 3.

You can see other changes of Forms 11 Update 3 from  https://support.laserfiche.com/kb/1014413/list-of-changes-for-laserfiche-forms-11-update-3 and get Forms 11 Update 3 from Laserfiche 11 package  https://support.laserfiche.com/kb/1014263/software-versions-and-fixes-included-in-the-laserfiche-11-download-package

I would do it via a workflow.  Save the value as a semi-colon separated string...

and then split it on read ...

Hi James,

Thanks for your response. Smart solution, that certainly looks like it could do it. I think I was hoping there was a slightly more elegant solution that didn't require branching off into a workflow, but this should work.

Robert,

We have "Bug 383925: Multiline text output from Workflow to Forms does not replace <br> tags" filed in our system. Is this the issue you're running into? Specifically, when using a modern form design (not a legacy form design) and sending multiline data from Workflow to Forms, it doesn't replace the <br> tags?

If so, then this issue should be resolved in the September 2022 Laserfiche Cloud update.

Regards
