Forms: Routing Error Caught by Customer in C:\ProgramData\Laserfiche Forms\RoutingError folder

asked on August 11, 2022

Hello,

A Customer of our has a script to monitor the  “C:\ProgramData\Laserfiche Forms\RoutingError” folder on their LF Forms Server.

Yesterday, they reached out with the following update:

"While accepting public comment through a form, a comment went through and worked but our script logged this behavior:

'LF Forms Routing Error', 08/09/2022 16:08:24, Created, \\\file:C:\ProgramData\Laserfiche Forms\RoutingError\9\e

'LF Forms Routing Error', 08/09/2022 16:08:24, Created, \\\file:C:\ProgramData\Laserfiche Forms\RoutingError\9\e\9e5a589d-90ab-483e-a6a0-b1d85440982a.xml

'LF Forms Routing Error', 08/09/2022 16:08:25, Changed, \\\file:C:\ProgramData\Laserfiche Forms\RoutingError\9\e\9e5a589d-90ab-483e-a6a0-b1d85440982a.xml

'LF Forms Routing Error', 08/09/2022 16:08:25, Deleted, \\\file:C:\ProgramData\Laserfiche Forms\RoutingError\9\e\9e5a589d-90ab-483e-a6a0-b1d85440982a.xml

As you can see, a directory was created, and XML file created > changed > deleted, and the record of an error being there disappeared."

They would like to know what would cause these error entries to be logged and are they of concern?

Anyone else captured these types of errors before?

They are on Forms version 10.4.5.282.

Appreciate the feedback,

Jeff Curtis

File in RoutingError folder is created for every submission Forms server received to ensure no customer data is lost when Forms server crashed unexpectedly during processing the submissions.

Once the submission is processed by Forms, Forms will delete the submission in RoutingError folder.

In most cases, the create -> delete process will be fast (within several seconds) and there is no need to worry about them. But if file count keep increasing in RoutingError folder, then probably something unexpected happened.
