Long Running Activities Sometimes Shows High Duration Incorrectly

In the Workflow Designer on the Activities tab for a running instance I have been using the Long-Running filter. Sometimes I will catch an activity that is currently running and it will show the duration of the activity, but when I refresh and see the completed activity duration it is lower than what the running activity reported.

Why is there such a large discrepancy? I am using Workflow Designer 10.4.2.246.

It's the current time difference while they're waiting to execute in the queue. Once they're done and the database updates you have the actual run time.
