Question

Subscription License be used for Named User Licenses

asked on July 20, 2022

Hello,

Have a question about Subscription licenses.

If we have a customer who is moving to a Subscription license model and currently all of their accounts are Named User accounts with linked Domain Accounts, can they stay in this state when we update the licensing, install LFDS, create a new application instance for server, allocating all of the licenses to the Named User licenses....I am not sure if this will work or if we need to convert these accounts over to LFDS Directory User accounts?

Appreciate the feedback,

Jeff Curtis

Our subscription clients still have this option to pass the full licenses over to LFS so you could continue to use those mapped accounts. The feature is gone from LFDS itself as far as I can tell, I never understood why anyone used that feature over just adding Windows Accounts.

However if they ever want to buy specialty license types like Participant, those don't pass over to LFS and you must authenticate with LFDS.
