LFDS Lookup for HostID failing - What firewall port number to open

asked on July 20, 2022

Hi,

I'm setting up a new environment and Windows Defender firewall is enable on servers.

I'm trying to get the hostID to create a license for a server and I get the following error:

Unable to get information for machine 'vmlfmainprd00.acadie.com'. (LFDS1000)

I know I can get the Host ID from that server with the showhwfp.exe tool but I want to properly configure servers so that HostID lookup feature is available to the customer.

Anyone know which protocol is being used in the background and what port needs to be open on the firewall? (I already tried opening WMI port but the error is still there)

When you mention opening the WMI port, did you simply open 135 or did you use the predefined WMI set of rules in the firewall? (I recommend using the latter.)

Hi Daniel,

Just to clarify, are you trying to look up the host ID of the local LFDS machine? Or are you looking up the host ID of a different machine?

From within LFDS, I'm trying to lookup the host ID of another server.

Ok thanks,

I have just enabled the firewall rule "RPC Dynamic Port range" along with that port 135 and its now working.

Can this be updated in the White Paper for Laserfiche ports?

Also, on that document, it doesn't say anything about port 5055, LFDS Subscription to update license.

Good point, I'll bring this up with our documentation team.
