Question

Unable to fill PDF with data from a Laserfiche Form

asked on July 13, 2022

I have been banging my head against the desk all day trying to figure this one out.

To help streamline HR on-boarding, and to help departments play nicely with each other, I am attempting to take a HR .PDF file, and fill it with data submitted in a Laserfiche form.  That way I can use the variables in the form for later forms for the department requesting the new employee.

I have searched all over answers.laserfiche.com and I don't seem to have a good grasp on the correct order that this needs to be in.  Below is my current setup, but  I keep getting No entry was specified. [0263-WF1]

Create Form properties:

Attach Electronic Document Properties:

Fill out PDF form properties:

I do have this workflow to be initiated by a LF Form:

I would appreciate any help on this.  This would save HR/Public Works a lot of time when hiring employees.

I think I found out what was causing that error, I did not have this option selected:

One little checkbox was breaking my whole workflow.  Anyways, this apparently changes the newly created document to the output entry so the rest of the workflow knows to fill it in.

Here is my full workflow in case someone searches for this in the future:

The token values are just for keeping the form name/type straight.

Thanks to everyone who assisted and answered my questions!

Just a clarification - I only have one field defined right now (Social Security #) for testing.  Once it fills successfully, I will add the rest of the fields.

Your "Fill Out PDF Form" activity appears to be properly referencing the entity that was created in the earlier activity, but the "Attach Electronic Document" activity does not, it is referencing the Starting Entry instead.

So it should reference "Create EGP Form"?

I believe so.

I've made the change and I am still getting the error:

No entry was specified. [0263-WF1]

This is where I have been running into a wall.  No matter what set of options and order I set the workflow in, I cannot get it to take the data that is being entered from the form and process it into the PDF

If you look in the instance details, which activity reports the "no entry was specified" error?

Laserfiche.Forms.Routing.ServiceTask.Execute(Int32 instanceId, IRoutingContext routingContext)
