Feature Request: New Field Rule Option to Hide Comment Box

asked on June 17, 2022 Show version history

I made a similar request to be able to hide the action buttons here. The same idea applies to this request, but instead to be able to hide the built in Comment field that a lot of people like to hide with custom CSS and JavaScript. It would also be nice if as a bonus we could choose whether or not to make the built in Comment field required or not wink.

Thanks for the feature request, we will consider it for future field rules enhancements.

I agree this would be very useful. We don't usually want the comments box and a toggle option would be great.

Thinking more about this, it would make more sense to have the option of whether or not the Comment field shows at the User Task level instead of the Form itself.

I understand that the Comment Box can be controlled using field rules in the Cloud version of Laserfiche. It would be great to provide that in the on premises version. Just to be clear, the controls for the Comment Box would be:

  • Mandatory/Not Mandatory
  • Field Rules
  • Option to change the type of comment box to Rich Text or plain would be extra awesome. :)

The task comment box can be controlled using field rules for self-hosted systems, you just have to upgrade to version 11 update 4. You can't change it to a rich text field though.
