Question

Does web client search respect folder security?

asked on June 16, 2022

If a user in web client does not have at least "view" rights on a folder in the repository, shouldn't web client searches exclude entries in that folder from search results?

Search results are limited to entries that the user has browse access to. This is done by the Laserfiche server, and so it applies to any and all applications that would run a search. However, it should be noted that documents can have different permissions from their parents, so your statement is not strictly true. It's possible for a user to have full rights on an entry and have no rights on the folder that contains it, and in that case the documents would be included in search results.
