Question

ImportAgent not working or too slow to act? Check this.

asked on June 9, 2022

After an upgrade of just about every part of the LF suite last month, I hit a stumbling block with ImportAgent. It wasn't working right while testing a new WF! Turns out there is a setting within it that got changed from what it was before the upgrade. IA was set to import after 600 seconds, not ~5 seconds like it was before. Go to Profile -> Advanced -> Check for new files in the monitored directories every....and done. It took me the better part of a workday to figure this out.

Does anyone know what Import Thread Count means? Does that mean in my example it will import documents 7 at a time?

Paul,

Here is a screen snip from the Help file;

Not sure about the reference to allowing IA to run on slower machines?  My interpretation is that IA spawns a background worker on a new thread for each document it is importing and that value in configuration determines how many background workers IA will spawn.  In a .NET environment a background worker allows you to run an asynchronous operation on a separate, dedicated thread.

Thanks for that, Cliff. It would be nice if docs were also written in conversational English so we'd really know what that setting does. I mean, 7? Like I have any reference as to whether that's reasonable or not. Have a good Friday! 😀
