Dynamic Fields in Cloud acting strange

I have a field called Vendor Name with the type of Text, to prepare it to be a dynamic list.

I make it a dynamic field, which should convert it to a list of values.

This is what it looks like in the repository and it lets me type anything I want

Questions I have are, why is it huge? Why doesn't it show a list of the values? Why does it allow me to enter my own values even if Restrict Values is checked?

Hi Chad,

What's the length of your 'Vendor Name' field? Do you have the [Settings]MaxDropDownLength attribute set for this user that is experiencing this behavior?

40 characters, it would not be a user issue, under the same user the drop down works as soon as I add a second external field for Vendor ID, something I found after this post. But what does the lookup for Vendor ID have to with the lookup for Vendor Name and why would a lookup ever present this giant text box? Nothing should make this field a giant text box.
