Question

Multiple approvals in forms

asked on May 31, 2022

We have a customer that wants the department head to submit a form for approval; however they have to get each co-department head to approve the form before going to the department submitter supervisor.

The co-department will be a form participant

However, the co-department name may change on each submission

How can we dynamically route the form approval to the correct co-department?

after all, approve then the form will go to the submitter supervisor  any one co-department can request a resubmit in which the form goes back to the submitter

It sounds like you are trying to set-up teams and filters to include variables.

Here's an example:

First - set-up each team and the filters you want for that team.  Basically set-up the exact same filter for each team, only tweaking the name slightly as needed.

Second - switch to "Team based on variable" and now the field variables can be used to determine the name of the team that you need and the filter that you need.  As long as all possible team names and filter names are accounted for in this manner, it works like a charm.

In this example, a drop-down field with branch_team_name matches the names of the dozen or so  teams in LFForms, and that triggers another field to populate with the branch number, which is used in the dynamic filter.  I'm able to have a single task that can assign to a dozen different teams based on two fields in the form (only one of which requires user input).

It's a bit of a pain to get set-up and tested, but once it's set-up, it works easily.
