Question

No Mobile App Notifications

asked on May 31, 2022

Hi, I would like to know about Mobile App notifications, like if any new forms tasks is assigned. Does Mobile App show notification banner or update it counter on the icon automatically without a manual refresh in the App?

Kindly note that I already have configured Laserfiche Forms notification settings using below link and forms notifications are working.

https://www.laserfiche.com/support/webhelp/Laserfiche/10/en-US/administration/#../Subsystems/Forms/Content/Notification-Service.htm

But nothing appears for Mobile App notifications. Are there any other configurations for Mobile notifications to appear?

Hi Sirmad, when there is a new task assign to you, you should be able to receive a notification banner and update the counter on the icon on your phone if configured properly. Besides the configuration on Forms server, please also make sure you enabled notification for Laserfiche app on your phone.

iOS: https://support.apple.com/en-ca/HT201925

Android:https://support.google.com/android/answer/9079661?hl=en#zippy=%2Cturn-notifications-on-or-off-for-certain-apps

Also check the following port is not taken by other process:

For forms server version>=10.4: port configured in https://[formsserverurl]/formsconfig#notification

For forms server version<10.4: 8189

Another quick note: banner only shows up when app is in background

Hi Yue, Ports are opened as per default configurations of Laserfiche. Also, I'm sure that other applications are not consuming these ports. Notifications are also enabled on my iPhone.

The server where mobile app server and mobile app notification service is installed does not have internet access. Is it because of that the mobile notifications are going through?

Actually this is the DMZ server where both Laserfiche Web Client and Mobile Server are installed.

Hi Sirmad, the server where mobile app server and app notification service installed need to have internet to access the platform notification service(for iOS it's APNS, apple push notification service). So if it doesn't have internet access, your iphone won't be able to receive the notifications.

Ok, thanks for the reply. I will coordinate with our network team to have internet access on the server to check this out.
