Windows Client MFA - Directory Server Login option Unavailable

The issue that I am encountering is that the Laserfiche Windows Client doesn't present the option to login using Laserfiche Directory Server unless you attach the repository.

So here is what I am talking about for Laserfiche Client and Server 11:

  1. When you launch the Laserfiche Windows Client, it doesn't provide the option to login using the Laserfiche Directory Server. The only two options available is Laserfiche and Windows Authentication.
  2. When you select to 'Attach' and type in the server name, select the repository and click OK, it then gives you option to Login using LFDS.
  3. You can then use that option to login successfully.
  4. If you exit the Laserfiche Client completely, then launch it again, you still only have the Laserfiche and Windows Authentication options for login.


This is the issue. the option to use LFDS should be present at all times for the Windows Desktop Client users in version 11 and it is not.

 

Any ideas on why?

Once you select a repository in the list, the "sign in using" drop-down should give you all the authentication options available for the server. Are you saying you don't see "Directory Server" there?

Yes, I don't see the 'Directory Server' there.

I've seen this behavior as well, if LF needs more examples for the problem.

The solution in our case was an SSL certificate issue with LFDS which was somehow not allowing the client to remember the fact it had authenticated through LFDS on LF client close and re-open.

In addition to Miruna's question, do you see the full repository list when you open the client, or do the repositories only show as options after you attach them?

Any patches to fix this available? Can you use the 10.4 client with an 11 server to workaround it?

No. This is only only with Laserfiche Windows Client 11.

There is a workaround, if you click attach each time you open the client, select the repository and connect, then you can login with STS.

I haven't seen the latest updates of the desktop client fix this. We just set the settings in the registry, following this path: https://doc.laserfiche.com/laserfiche.documentation/11/administration/en-us/Default.htm#../Subsystems/LFDS/Content/LFDS-SSO-Admin.htm (see overriding the LFDS Url).

And we also set the AuthMode key (at the same path) to LFDS.
