Question

uploading images using mobile phone web browser

asked on May 12, 2022 Show version history

I have a LF form that is allowed to upload images. I have set the max file size to upload at 10MB. The form is intended to be accessed using mobile phone browser only.

When i filled out the form and attached an image of more than 1MB is size, the form 'accepts' the submission (no error message) and displays a thank you message. However, the data are not saved in the database (MS SQL) as well as the image in the LF repository. Only when the image is less than 1MB can the data be successfully stored and the image saved in the repository. I am using Google Chrome and Firefox in mobile.

Images includes Upload Document setting 10MB max file size, LF File storage (images uploaded are stored in the repository, and database fields for the uploaded image (SupportingDocument) although i'm not sure if this field should even be created.

Any help you can provide will be much appreciated. Thanks.

Can you use desktop browser to access the form and check whether you can reproduce it?

Yes i can use the desktop browser and using the form, it can upload more than 1MB images, either as a single image of higher than 1MB in size or multiple images totalling more than 1MB.

I mentioned previously that data are not saved in the database (MS SQL) as well as the image in the LF repository when the image is more than 1MB using mobile phones. However today i tested again. Forms data (data captured by the form) are saved in the database and in the repository even though the image uploaded is more than 1MB, however the image more than 1MB in size still are not saved.

What is that table in the last screenshot? That does not look like a Forms table. Do you have some background process that is supposed to take the file from Forms and write it to that table?

Hi @Miruna

The table in the last screenshot is actually the list of fields in the database. I just shared that there is a field corresponding to the upload Document field in the LF Form. But nothing is saved though in this field in the database.

I have attached images of our repository. You can see that using the desktop browser, the 2 images where captured and stored, even when one of the 2 images is 3.24MB in size. However, in the second image where the LF Form is accessed via a mobile phone browser, the data is captured, however the image, being more than 1MB, is not. I used google chrome browser. Same is true when using Mozilla Firefox.

Hi Jhun,

Sorry for the late response, I met some problem for sharing the vpn connection to my phone. I tried today with Forms 11 with both IPhone and Android phone, I can upload a file more than 1 MB when the maximum file size  of the file upload field is set to 10 MB and the file will be uploaded to the Forms server.  I can see the file when I click the form submission step from the instance history.

You showed us screenshots of the repository and the repository fields setting in database, did you check from the Forms Monitor page to see whether the files you uploaded from mobile phone saved to the Forms server or not? If it is not saved, you can open a support case with you Solution Provider and provide videos/screenshots to illustrate the issue and also provide the process you were using.  If it is saved to the Forms server, but it is not saved to the repository, you may check whether there is any error for the save to repository step when you view the instance from Monitor page, for example, the instance is suspended at the save to repository step and select the instance, you can right click to view error log.
