Question

Weblink Download time

asked on April 11, 2022

We are on LF 11, Weblink 10.0.2111.777

When authenticated repository users download files using Weblink, the first part of the download up to where they are asked as to the location and name of the item is super fast. The second part of the download where it is actually downloading is super slow.

Where do I need to look to see what the bottleneck might be? I am pulling my hair out trying to figure out why everything is so immensely slow since we upgraded to 11. Am I looking at finetuning IIS? Do I need extra resources on the server. Memory and CPU are never maxed out. or could it be Laserfiche itself? Weblink is not installed on the Laserfiche server itself?  It is currently taking around 40 minutes for a 3.5 Gb file.  We have dedicated internet connection for this, and our bandwidth is never maxed out so we know that is not it (at least not on our end).

I believe the save dialog won't come up until the headers from the download request arrive, and that won't be sent until all of the data is available on the WebLink machine. You can check that by looking in (I believe) C:\programdata\Laserfiche\weblink on the WebLink machine for a file that matches the 3.5 gb.

So that means that the bottleneck is likely between the WebLink machine and the browser. One thing you can try is placing a copy of the file in the WebLink directory and downloading it directly.
