Question

Lookup fills in testing, but on the mobile app lookup isn't filling in

asked on April 11, 2022

Can anyone tell me why a form with dropdowns filled by Lookup Rules would work in testing from my desktop, but the dropdown isn't filling when testing on the Mobile App on my cell phone?

Hi Connie,

If the form is opened from Forms Server Name > Start Process in mobile app, the form (including lookup) should behave as same as form opened from browser.

If the form is downloaded (Save Offline Copy) and then opened from Offline Copies > Start Process, then the lookup will not query live data even if the network is okay.

And to make lookup work with offline form,

1) add related table to offline lookup tables in Forms -> Administration -> Data Source page

2) 'Update Related Lookup Tables' on the process in mobile app

Could you clarify which way you are using?

Hi Connie,

Could you provide more information about the issue?

Is it an offline form or online form? Is it a classic form or new form (supported in Forms 11)?

After more research, it seems (correct me if I'm wrong) that the mobile app isn't programmed to do active lookups to fill drop down fields... yet?

It is designed in the classic view (but in Forms 11).  In testing, I was testing while located where I had good wifi access... so using the mobile app should have been able to auto fill the fields... I thought.  I knew they probably could not fill the fields if our workers were in a rural area without internet.  But I was hoping they could open the hazard assessment form while still at the Shop, then go to the site to finish their hazard assessment.

That is it!  Thank you!

Now, could you answer one more question?  Yesterday, a user contacted me and said they could not access the forms on the mobile app.  After asking questions and comparing notes, I did discover the Start Process where you were indicating and did not make the connection with this form and my problem, but kept trying to explain the two locations to the user.  She was ALSO trying to access a form (different one) in the off-line section, but in the end we discovered the Start Process at the top of the page was not there.  We compared notes with my phone and mobile app, but could not see why the "Forms", then My Tasks, Team Tasks and Start Process under that are not there.  She does see the Forms Server Name, but her screen after the server name starts with All Files, then Starred, Recent, etc.  So, can you point us in the right direction to correct this for her?

Glad to know it works smiley

For the later question, could you check the connection to Forms on user's mobile app from Settings -> Connection -> Username under Forms? If it is empty, then user is logged into repository but somehow not into Forms.

The Forms server can be selected on at bottom on sign in page. If that's the case, user can sign out and make sure desired Forms server is selected then try sign in again.

Thanks, Ziyan.  I instructed the user to uninstall the mobile app and reinstall and after that, it worked!  I will make note of your instructions above in case we need it in the future.  Thanks!
