Laserfiche Full Text Search - FTS_TP_.zip, FTS_NBTP_.zip

asked on March 29, 2022 Show version history

My security team has flagged some of the Full Text Search files and is asking their purpose.  Can anyone tell me  the purpose of the FTS_TP_.zip, FTS_NBTP_.zip  files ?

I checked my repository search folders and did not find any .zip files.  Perhaps they were left over from a move of your search files location?

I as well didn't find any .zip files under any of the following paths on one of my test servers:

  • Repository \SEARCH\ directory that holds catalog files
  • \Program Files\LFFTS\
  • \ProgramData\Laserfiche\LFFTS\

What are the full paths of those files on your system? Why were they flagged?

I am finding them under the user account that is running the FTSS.  For example

C:\Users\laserfiche.svc\AppData\Local\Temp

Inspecting the LFFTS code shows those are temp files for text extraction. They are not malicious.

Hey Carson, I am getting the same malware notification in 10.4 except my files are FTS_NBTP_.pdf and they are in the Appdata\local\temp area for the account running FTS. I'm assuming FTS was trying to process a recently created/imported PDF. Could this mean there was malware attached to the PDF? If not, why would this occur on some documents FTS is processing and not others?
