Quick Fields Zone OCR Question

asked on March 20, 2022 Show version history

Hi All

I've created a Quick Fields Session that runs through a batch of documents , there are barcode separation sheets to divide the batches into the correct folder when saved to the LF repository, this works OK.

What i want to do is have a single sheet at the front of the entire Batch with and assessment number on it that's picked up by Zone OCR and set as a Token Value, this sheet is only scanned once and then deleted.

How can i get this one page scanned once then deleted and keep the Zone OCR token?

Its been a while since I've done anything on Quick Fields so any assistance is appreciated

So, there's really two parts to this:
1) How do I use a token value across multiple document classes?
2) How do I remove (just) the first page of the batch (e.g., a batch cover sheet)?

For #1, you want the Token Collector and Token Retriever processes.  The Token Collector will store the assessment number token for other document classes to use, and the Token Retriever will be used in the document classes to get the value and store it in a field (or however you want to use it).

For #2, it's a little more complicated.  Set up the batch cover sheet as its own document class with its own identification condition and the Token Collector process.  However, actually deleting the document (you can remove its only page with Page Removal, but that doesn't delete the document itself) doesn't seem possible within Quick Fields itself.  One workaround is to have the document class invoke a trivial Workflow just after storage that deletes the entry.

Ah.. beat me to it.

Here are some screenshot's to provide some clarity on what Jacob provided above:

A QF Session with 2 Document classes using a batch seperator page (Created using LF Forms)  and Pattern Matching to extract the batch number then using the token retriever to store the info for the next document class.

Note: The storage location - Using a PA (Process automation) workflow to delete the batch coversheets once store to the repository

Document Class #2

Good luck!
