I have read (at the link provided below) that MS Office Integration will automatically check out a document/file when it's opened for editing, yet my experience is not consistent with that. For example, I was experimenting by editing a MS Word .doc, opened in MS Word, and while being edited the option to "Check Out" is illuminated and can be clicked for manually checking out, but it doesn't appear this is occurring automatically. Is this a feature that be turned on or off?
[UPDATE: Does this auto-checkout only apply to metadata? I did notice that document will checkout once you adjust metadata, but the same behavior doesn't occur to edits made to the .doc itself. Thanks]
