Laserfiche User Account kept getting locked in LFDS

asked on February 24, 2022

Hi all,

Has anyone has idea why this account kept getting locked in LFDS?

This account was created to manage connection profile in wf, forms etc.

Its has Manage Trustee privilege rights and a full name user. (basically it has full rights)

We recently change its password and updated every connection profiles in forms and wf.

Any idea?

Running instances do not get updated profiles when you republish the workflow definition. You can use redirects to handle them instead.

You should be able to tell whether this is coming from Workflow or Forms by looking at the running instances. Workflows will terminate if they can't connect to the repository. Forms instances will suspend.

As a recommended security practice, separate users should be created for different applications. That allows you better control over security needed and makes it easier to keep track of what needs to be updated in the event of a password change or  moving to a new server.

Hi Mohd,

It is likely that this user is still being used somewhere with an incorrect password. If you look at your Settings > Password > Account Lockout configuration, you will see that by default LFDS will lock an account if there are 10 failed sign-in attempts. Depending on the version of LFDS you are using, you may be able to check this by going to the Audit tab and filtering events with type "Authentication events" and "Failure Events Only".

Hi Chase,

Great! I can see multiple login failure events. Does this Audit  tells me where the login attempt is happened?

Maybe in Workflow, Forms, or Client etc?

No, unfortunately you cannot see which app is attempting to be accessed. Do these login failures seem to be happening on a steady time interval? Or do they happen at random times?

Yes it does. It has some kind of intervals or pattern to it.

I've look into Workflows Rules Manager, and Forms process but couldn't found any instance that I haven't update the connection profiles.

Does ongoing instance in wf get updated with updated profiles?
