Question

Duplicate File on Local Computer

asked on February 17, 2022

Is there a way to duplicate a file after Quick Fields finishes uploading or working to organize the files in finds on another folder on the local computer?  We want to upload files to the Repository but also move them to a network share so that others can view the files.

Thank you for your help!

Yes.  The Universal Capture scan source has a Post-Processing section that lets you decide what to do with files after they've been processed.  One of those options is to move it to a different folder (including a network folder):

Thank you for the answer, but I am still kind of new to Quick Fields.  Where exactly is this section located?  I don't see where Universal Capture is located.

I am on Version 10.3.0.110

Thank you

So, first, let me clarify something.  The post-processing option I mentioned above moves the original documents scanned in by Quick Fields, not the processed documents.  If you're just using Quick Fields to extract metadata and store the documents in Laserfiche, this doesn't matter.  However, if you're using Quick Fields to modify the documents in some way (e.g., removing pages, image enhancements), those changes wouldn't be applied to the documents being moved to the network drive.

To answer your question about accessing that dialog:

Universal Capture is our scan source that scans files into Quick Fields (vs LFCE which gets documents from a Laserfiche Repository or interacting directly with a physical scanner).  You can select to use Universal Capture from the Scan Sources dialog:

And then configure it in the dialog above by using this menu item:

Thank you, yes, I am trying to move files after they are processed by the changes and file renames.

Thank you again!
