Question

Web Client/WebLink slow document load

asked on February 11, 2022

We've recently upgraded to RIO 10.x from an old United 8.3 installation.  In our previous install, all LF software was installed on a single server (Repository, WebLink, etc.), only the database was separate.  Previously the response-time the user experienced when opening a document from a URL with search syntax embedded was ~3 seconds.

Since moving to RIO with a distributed server architecture (LFDS, WebClient, Repository, and database all on separate servers) the response time is now up to ~8 seconds.  I'm not seeing any resource issues on any of the servers, nor on the individual clients. Is the distributed environment really causing this or is there something else I can be looking at as a cause?

Thanks in advance.

Is the user already logged in? 8 seconds is much longer than I would expect, especially if the user was already logged in.

What are the ping times between the tiers? Are you running any kind of AV or other proxy that is intercepting the http requests between them? That is a common cause of latency that we've seen.
