Question

Quick Fields Barcode Error

asked on February 3, 2022

Recently, we did an upgrade from Laserfiche Server 10.2 to 11. I had a QF session that separates documents and extracts information through a QR barcode on each page. The earlier QF version had no issues with this. The QF version 11 has some issues (I’ll address the second issue in another question if this doesn’t resolve it).  The first issue is that I have a token in the “Document Name” = %(Barcode 1) so that it will be named after the number in the barcode.  The session will name the documents accordingly.  I have that same token in a template field but it only enters the number from the barcode in the first document.  The other documents keep the token %(Barcode 1).

It reads the barcode and gets the number (hence the correct Document Name) but doesn’t put it in the template.  If I scan 100 documents, the first would be correct and the other 99 will be named correctly but will not be indexed.

Hi Shannon,

I just tried to reproduce this on an inhouse installation of Quick Fields 11 and was not able to (the field was populated as expected on all documents).  You may want to ask your VAR about this, and if they can't resolve it, to open a support case on your behalf.

Without seeing the session itself and/or being able to reproduce the issue inhouse (a support case would allow us to do that), I'm afraid there isn't much I can recommend.

Is the Barcode process in the Page Processing section of the document class?

Does anything else interact with the Barcode token (e.g., an Assign Token Values process)?

Out of curiosity, have you tried assigning the Barcode 1 token to a new token using the Assign Token Values process and then used the new token value?

Is there anything special about the field you're assigning it to? (e.g., constraints that could prevent it from being populated)

Hello,

This is a session I inherited and I am no expert (obviously).  The Barcode is under "First Page Identification."  Should it be under Page Processing?  I'll try assigning the token to a new token. Thanks for your help!

Whoops, sorry, I missed that you said the barcode was used to identify documents, too--it needs to be in First Page Processing to do that.  That said, it might be interesting to know if it works when the Barcode process is also in the Page Processing section and you use the token from that second process (yes, it's duplicated processing, but the Barcode process takes very little time to run).

Is the Token Collector process also using the Barcode token?
