Question

Forms- "Application pool 'FormsAppPool' is being automatically disabled due to a series of failures in the process(es) serving that application pool."

asked on January 31, 2022

Hello,

Customer reached out to us that the are receiving more of the below error's in the System log files, with increase of Forms submission (They are up to approximately 5300 submissions a month):

"Application pool 'FormsAppPool' is being automatically disabled due to a series of failures in the process(es) serving that application pool.
A process serving application pool 'FormsAppPool' suffered a fatal communication error with the Windows Process Activation Service. The process id was 'xxxx'. The data field contains the error number."

They are running WS2012R2 with Forms version 10.4.5.316.

They found the below posting from StackOverflow, and reached out to us to see if we have known anyone else hitting this issue and using this workaround:

https://stackoverflow.com/questions/7204444/iis7-a-process-serving-application-pool-yyyyy-suffered-a-fatal-communication

Anyone else seeing this type of issue and if so, did enabling the 32bit application in IIS resolve the issue (Per Post above)?

Appreciate the feedback,

Jeff Curtis

That answer is pretty outdated now. Typically you would expect the series of errors that caused this to also be logged, and those will give some indication of the underlying problem.

Hey Brian,

Thanks.

The error message I posted was from their System Log just a few days ago...Should there be another log we are looking at for more updated details?

Is there any error message in Application log that that indicates FormsAppPool (w3wp.exe) crashed?
