Is there a way to recover overwritten metadata fields?

A user tried to mass update a specific metadata field, and accidently overwrote all the other metadata fields on about 300 records.

 

Is there any way we can recover the metadata information?

I believe the only way to recover would be from a backup or if you have Version Control enabled.

If you can recover from a backup, then depending on the type of metadata, you could restore the prop_val table to a temporary database, and just restore the matadata for the 300 records only.

Not all types metadata are stored in the prop_val table.
