LF Client Document Viewer-Drag/Drop to Website

asked on November 24, 2021

Hello,

I not sure if the process of drag/drop from the LF Client Document Viewer to a Website is a supported scenario, but we have had two customer reach out in the last three days, to state they have been able to utilize the drag/drop to a website from the LF Client Document Viewer up until last Friday (11.19) and then it stopped.

When they try this process now, the receive the download pop-up in LF that keep flickering and usually freezes up or does not complete.

Interesting thing is, these are two separate customer using two separate websites that are not related to each other.

I just tested this process using the attach file option on this LF Answer Post I get the same experience sometimes and sometimes it will load.  Customers are on LF 10.3 Client and I am using the 10.4.2 Client.

I know Chrome had a major browser update on 11.15 I believe, but I am not sure if this is the issue or not.

Both customers are able to drag/drop out of the viewer to their desktop and then drag it into the Website, so they have another method to do this for now.

If anyone else has come across this issue and found a resolution, would love to hear what you did.

Appreciate the feedback,

Jeff Curtis

We have a client experiencing this as well.  Any updates would be appreciated.

I also have a customer experiencing this same issue. They are no longer able to drag a document from the  Laserfiche Client to the website that they upload files to. The current workaround is to drag from the LF Client to their desktop and then to the website. It seems they started experiencing this issue around 11/20/2021.

Is there any update on this issue?

We are looking into this issue (bug# 355644), there is no immediate plan for a fix. In the meantime, a workaround is to drag the documents to the desktop and from the desktop to the browser.

Also, check if the windows clipboard is cloud-connected (https://support.swiftkey.com/hc/en-us/articles/360050207692-How-to-use-Microsoft-SwiftKey-to-copy-and-paste-text-between-SwiftKey-Keyboard-and-Windows). If so, disable this feature and see if that fixes the problem.

Hey Robert,

FYI- I had our users check the clipboard setting and it was already disabled.

We will wait for a fix and go with the workaround which they have been doing already.

Thanks,

Jeff Curtis

I've got a ticket with Support going on this.  No new updates at this time.  I'm hoping for a more detailed response from the Dev team this week.

We have a potential hotfix that we are testing. Due to the holiday it will probably be available next week at the earliest.

I've seen the 10.4.2 patch work and I know they have one for v11.  Check with LF support for the new client lf.exe

I see there is a fix for the LF 11 Windows Client, but was there one pushed out for the 10.4.2 Client?

Patrick M. posted he has seen a 10.4.2 patch work, but I can't seem to find the KB URL for that one.

If anyone has that and can provide it here, that would be great.

Thanks,

Jeff Curtis

We've also had two different customers report this in the last week or so.  They are trying to drag & drop documents from the Laserfiche desktop client to two different chrome-based websites or applications.   It seems to work when using Edge, but not Chrome.

Seems that a recent Chrome update or Windows update must have broken something.  One of the two customers noticed it after installing several Windows Updates on 11/15.

Has Laserfiche see this issue yet?

Thanks,

Mike

Anyone have any more info on this issue?  We've tested Edge, Chrome, Brave, and Firefox (a non-chromium browser) against a test Salesforce account and got pretty much the same results.  Interesting to note was even when a file got successfully uploaded, the application reported that a second file of the same name failed to upload.  I'm beginning to wonder if this may be MS update issue, not a browser update one.

Unconfirmed results but in our case we noticed that if you held the mouse button down till the download bar on the client finished you consistently got one file to upload and a second 0KB file as well.  This customer was simply deleting the second one and working with that.

Did some additional testing, this time with LF v11 windows client.  We are getting a more consistent upload tiff images being converted to PDF on the way up.  Although we are still seeing the the two files, one with data, one without.

That being the case we also determined the issue appears worse with Laserfiche 11 with all native file formats like WORD, EXCEL, PDF.  Salesforce reports back two empty files, using both Edge and the most current version of Chrome.

You cannot upload native format electronic documents to Salesforce at all without going to the desktop first.  This was not the case in our testing of early version of the LF client.

Not to pile on with something unrelated to the original issue, but we've also had some users complain that the web based document viewer / preview functionality was lost after upgrading to Laserfiche 11. It is really hard to resolve because the experience is different from one Chrome user to the next (even running the same version). For users who can't get their version of Chrome to work/connect, they revert to using Edge and there is no issue. Preview works as it should.

I never thought I'd see the day.. but, Edge is turning it around and the wheels are falling off Chrome.

Hi Jeff,

Yes there is a fix for 10.4.2.  I've uploaded a copy of it to this post (It's a zip file with a .TXT extension in an attempt to get around the rules).  If you can't get at it, I'm sure support can able to provide the LF.exe.  You replace the 10.4.2 client's lf.exe file with this one.
