Question

Can Form submission draft titles have tokens?

asked on November 15, 2021 Show version history

When saving a draft for a form, the "Draft name" field default value is the name of the Forms process (which in this case is "Sandbox - Fernando").

Is there a setting somewhere to edit what the default field values should be? Preferably with tokens.

Below is this quick draft email editor found in the Process Diagram, but this doesn't affect the screenshot referenced above.

-

After saving a draft, the bottom shows an entry be added to the Drafts view in the Inbox tab. The entry name is whatever the value from the part in screenshot #1 is instead of the tokens from screenshot #2.

Users could manually update screenshot #1 but I would like to save them from doing that.

Are there any ways to achieve this?

The subject you configured in screenshot #2 is for email notification subject, it is not for the draft name.  The draft name doesn't support using variables in it as there is no place to preconfigure the draft name, you have to enter it the first time you save and you can get the field variable values from the form directly.

Why do you want to use variable instead of value directly?

Thank you for the response.

It is a specific use case.

The purpose of the form is to evaluate employees.

The submitter has several employees to evaluate so an approach that they are taking is that they want to prefill all the evaluations at once and save them (1 draft per employee to be evaluated) ahead of time.

That way the submitter doesn't have to fill them immediately before every evaluation.

Currently, if the person saves 10 drafts, the third screenshot would show 10 identical entries and would make it hard to discern them.

Thanks for sharing the use case. Be able to define the default draft name with variables inside will give process designers more flexibility. I added your request to our internal feature requests pool.
