Question

re-run lookup

asked on November 15, 2021

Is there a way to re-run the lookup on all the scanned entries that didn't find a hit in the table? (Without having to hit enter on each entry's keyfield).  Realized there was data missing in lookup table and have since added it, but have a bunch of 'scanned' universal capture docs with missing 'required' metadata. Do not want to have to re-scan (20k + documents, most of which have been saved to repo already, just want to catch the 500 or so docs that didn't get a hit on the lookup).  re-assigning the documents nor re-running the 'process' do the trick.

Thanks.

If you can create a specific search that will return only the documents you need to rerun the query on, then you can use workflow to search for them and run the lookup on them again. Search for all the documents with that template that are missing certain fields should work. You'd have to create your search and then edit the search syntax to get it to find fields that are blank ="". Then put that syntax in your workflow search and run the query for each entry it finds.

You may want to limit your search to documents created by a certain user within a certain date range, etc.

Hello Elexis,

Thanks for the reply, but the documents in question are still in QF (not saved to the repo yet...in fact can't be due to the required fields).

Ah! I see. Didn't catch that part.

Brainstorming...is it plausible to remove the required field just long enough to get them in the repo; so you can use workflow to correct?

I toyed with that, but I'm a little wary to do so... it's only a few hundred items, and if I manually click on the key field and hit enter, it then pulls in the looked up names...so not too bad (certainly better than manually typing in the last and first names)....but for some reason QF slows down significantly after updating about 20 or so docs (clicking on the next doc and waiting for image and metadata pane to refresh is painfully slow).

If I save the 20 or so to the repo, then close and re-open QF, I can do another batch before I have to save/close/reopen again...it's a pain.

If you right-click on the folder and go to Assign Documents, you can have QF re-run its processes for you.

Hi Miruna,

I tried that, but it doesn't re-do the lookup

(It's QF version 10.3.0.66, if that helps)
