Question

Import Agent - Can it apply the name of a network folder to its file?

asked on November 12, 2021 Show version history

Greetings!

I have a network directory structure similar to C:\Txn_Nbr\attachment.pdf (where Txn_Nbr represents an actual number ).  Since I'm working with many different transactions, there are many folders but each folder contains only one attachment.pdf.  "Attachment.pdf" is the default name given to the document in every folder.

For the document to have any meaning when imported to Laserfiche, I need to rename it to the transaction number of its parent folder.  For example, C:\12345678\attachment.pdf  becomes  12345678.pdf.   Is it possible for Import Agent to do this while importing the document?  Is there another method to get the same results?  I appreciate all suggestions.

Thanks,

-Jason

Hi Jason-

There's a Subfolder token that should do the trick. It's only available in the path area and not the document name, but you can copy it in. Might run into problems if things are nested more than one folder down from the monitored folder:

%(Subfolder)
