Rogue Form Terminating Daily

asked on November 8, 2021

Hi there. Sorry if this has been answered before (I scoured the Knowledge Base and Answers sections, but couldn't find anything), but we have a user who is having 3 terminated processes every night at 3 AM. Like clockwork, without fail... 3 terminated forms at exactly 3:04 AM (screenshot of the past few days attached).

I looked through her account and couldn't find anything that might be causing this. She's a hard worker, but definitely not up every night at 3 AM putting in Forms. The terminated process email is kind of driving her crazy.

Does anyone have an idea of what might be causing this? We're using Laserfiche Forms Professional Version 10.2.1.157.

What error did you see when you select the terminated instance and click "View error log"? Can you provide screenshots to show the history of one terminated instance? There is known bug in 10.2.1 that a deleted timer which attached to a user task will cause the instance terminate at the trigger time the timer event is configured.  After we confirm the issue whether materials you provide, we can provide you workaround to remove such data from database.

Thanks so much for the response. Sorry - I forgot to include that log in the original post. I'm attaching a screenshot of the Error Log from the Process History. The text of it says: "The form you're looking for cannot be found. Either it has been submitted already, or it has been removed. [LFF2104-InvalidRequestSubmissionExists]"

Hi Lonann, sorry for the late response.

Is the Forms server machine restarted every night at 3 AM automatically?

Can you check the number of files in the C:\ProgramData\Laserfiche Forms\RoutingError folder from the folder properties?

It may because there are 3 invalid xml files under this folder and when the Forms server machine is restarted it will trigger the submission recovery mechanism to processing these 3 XML files over and over.

You can test the hypothesis by manual restart "Laserfiche Forms Routing Service" from Windows Services and check whether there will be 3 new terminated instances. If so, the solution is to remove the invalid XML files from the folder.  You can search with ".xml" with in the RoutingError folder and check the date modified for the files and move the 3 files with the oldest date modified time(should be older than 11/5/2021) out of the RoutingError folder.  The search result will show you where the file is located under the RoutingError folder.
