Question

Using UPN for Login to Web Applications

asked on October 14, 2021

Hello,

We have a new RIO customer who is currently unable to login with UPN only Domain\Alias works.

They have have an Identity Provider setup for their AD.

I can't seem to find any documentation on setting this up for typical login, other then if they were setting SAML:

https://www.laserfiche.com/support/webhelp/Laserfiche/10/en-US/administration/#../Subsystems/LFDS/Content/ProxiedProviders.htm?Highlight=UPN

Customer states they are able to log into other Web Applications they use outside of LF, with UPN.

I thought both formats worked in an LFDS environment.

Appreciate the feedback,

Jeff Curtis

In that case, UPN format should be working. I recommend opening a support case for this so we can get more information about your system.

Hi Jeff,

Is their identity provider registered in LFDS as an Active Directory identity provider or an LDAP identity provider using Active Directory schema?

Hi Chase,

Customer's Identity Provider is registered as AD Identity Provider.

Thanks,

@ChaseHill- I have a follow up to this.

Customer's Domain Name is different from the alias used in the UPN.

Given this, could this be part of the reason the UPN format does not work?

I had a LF Support Case opened, but we closed it as there was an issue with the Domain Controller and just found out about the Domain & UPN format difference.

Thanks,

Jeff Curtis

Hi Jeff, I don't think that would be the underlying problem. I just tested this with a user with a UPN suffix that didn't match the domain and there wasn't an issue signing in.
