Question

When Using SAML Authentication, how do we retain originally requested URL?

asked on September 24, 2021

We have an environment that is configured to use a Shibboleth SAML idP. When an email is sent out to an end user with a link to a specific link to a document, they are taken to the STS login page. Once they click the SAML Authentication button, they are then taken to the SAML idP page to authenticate. After authenticating they are taken to the Web Client, but they are taken to the root of the repository instead of the document that was originally requested.

In the URL of the STS page, it contains the link to the document, but once taken to the SAML idP page it is removed. Is there a way to continue to have it passed to the SAML idP and back?

Hi Blake,

I am unable to reproduce this issue and my browser is taken to the document of interest as expected. I recommend opening a support case and including a browser HAR trace of the issue from an incognito window (start the trace before pasting the link in the URL bar and beginning the login).

Someone from our team will open a support case. Thank you.
