Question

View Tag Comments in Web Access

asked on September 20, 2021

In some cases we're applying tag comments to documents in workflow.  I can see the tag comments in the Windows client easily enough, but Web Access doesn't seem to show the tag comments at all no matter what we try.

It seems there should be an option to view and edit tag comments using Web Access according to the latest online user guides but I can't get that to work at all so maybe this was only added as an option recently?  We're currently on version 10.4.2.214 of the web client.

Am I missing something here, or is it time to look at upgrading to enable this feature?

Hi Stephane,
I am unaware of this feature for Web Client; it is not available in version 11.0 of Web Client either. I have created a bug for this issue so our team can look into this. Thank you for your question.

Hi Tricia,

Thank you, that would be wonderful.  The reason that I thought it was a feature in the newer versions was due to the wording at Viewing and Modifying Tags (laserfiche.com), specifically where it references under Laserfiche Web Client:

3. All tags that are currently applied to the document will be listed. You can review the following tag information:

  • The tag icon indicates whether the tag is an informational tag or a security tag .
  • The name of the tag.
  • Description: The tag description, configured by an administrator, which provides additional information about the tag.
  • Comments: The comments provided when the tag was applied. (You can modify this value. See step 5 for more information.)

I'd like to also check in on the tags in Web Client. Any updates on this in the recent version of 11? Or is Laserfiche phasing out tags?

Hi Chris,

I don't believe there's an update here, but don't worry about tags being phased out. It's just that the specific concept of tag comments was not expanded beyond the windows client due to low usage. All other aspects of tags are fully present in the web client as well.
