Question

Minimum access rights to create a document or folder in LF

asked on September 1, 2021

I have a situation where an external program is using LF web access to add documents to Laserfiche.  Since this is publicly  accessible if anyone were to "bump" into this site it would expose information.  The customer has asked if there was a way to protect this.  I thought the best way would be through LF security on the account adding the documents but it looks like I need Browse and/or Read to create a document or folder.  Is there any way around this?

Thanks

Sandy

You can create a Dropbox in Laserfiche using multiple Scopes.  In my Demo repository, I have a User named Carol.  Carol can log into Laserfiche but only drop documents into her folder.  Once she drops them, she cannot see them.  Below shows the Access Rights to do this:

If the concern is that they want people to be able to upload files by a user and then move the information so it would no longer be available to the user, I would suggest Workflow to pick up the file and move it to a folder where they would not have access.

I just got more information from the customer - the issue is people getting to a URL that automatically logs into Laserfiche with an Admin account so Energov can drop documents into the folder.  I haven't been able to restrict the user and still allow them to upload documents.

Is it possible to restrict the URL to only accept input from a specific IP address?
