Converting to Web Client Search by Template

asked on August 31, 2021

My customer is looking at converting to the web client from the windows client.  They almost exclusively use the template search of Advanced search in the Windows client.  The nice thing is that when they come back to the Windows client their search and the last template used are right there when they click the magnifying glass.

Now, in the web client that doesn't seem to be the case.  They can use search filters or template search from the search bar, but they always have to pick the template, it doesn't remember the last template searched.  We can do a saved search for that template with no data on the template, but invoking the saved search seems to always execute the search and with a large repository, that takes time and slows the process down even more.

Basically, they would like to have an easy way to always search by template only and not have to pick the template they are searching each time like the Windows client.

Thoughts.

In Web Client you can create a saved search in Advanced Search.  Then you can select that saved search in Advanced Search.

Yes, we did that.  However, the problem is that rather than just opening the search it opens and runs the search.  The search for just that template is so broad when it opens that it takes a bit to open the saved search and run it then they have to wait and put in the number they are looking for into the template after the initial search runs with no fields of the template filled out.

There are alot of changes to Search in the Web Client in version 11, maybe they'll work better for them.  We're using 10.4 so I'm not too familiar with the ins & outs of LF 11 yet.

V11 does the same, it runs the search filter when opened.

Yes, It would be nice to have an option to not execute the search when loading.
