Question

Inheritation of browser view

asked on August 25, 2021 Show version history

Hi everyone,

I have activated individual folder view.

Folder view: Via Tools -> Options -> Browser -> General we can set 'remembered for each individual folder' so that the view can be adapted individually. However, the folder view is only partially adopted correctly for subfolders.

I have a Folder called "ImportInvoices" and two direct Subfolders "Rejected" and "Submitted".

If I add the column "Last Modified By" to the Folder "ImportInvoices", the column is automatically displayed for the subfolder „Rejected“ aswell. But unfortunately not for „Submitted“, which is also a direct subfolder from „ImportInvoices".

Does anyone know why this is the case?

Thanks

It sounds like they may have already set custom column views for that second subfolder before the changes were made for the parent, which would override the inherited settings.

My understanding is that settings like that are only inherited when the children still fall under the "default" with no customization so as to avoid overwriting other customizations.

For example, if you changed your column settings for the root folder, you wouldn't always want that to wipe out every other folder you had changed, so only the "default" folders inherit.

In the Administration Console, you can go to the user and check their attributes to see which folders have customized column settings and potentially remove any settings for the "Submitted" folder.
