Question

How do I stop a field rule if a different selection is made?

asked on August 24, 2021

I have a field rule that shows a message when the "no" radio button is selected in Section B. There are a number of selections in Section A, and each one opens up a different Section B, however, the field rule applies to all the different choices that occur in Section B.

The problem is this - when "no" is answered in Section B, the field rule kicks in and asks the user to select a different option in Section A. However, when the user selects a new option in Section A, the field rule is still showing.

How do I tell the field rule to go away once a new selection is made in Section A (but keep the field rule for if "no" is selected again in the new Section B)?

You could try to add another rule

Hide STOP and ignore data

when any

I am fully vaccinated is yes

I have or will received... is yes

... all the yesses

That way, once they reselect a value in A, the STOP field will hide and wouldn't show unless they clicked No again. (I believe you need to add this rule above your existing rule so the default has the STOP text hiding. Otherwise try putting the new rule below the existing rule)
