Web Client 10.4.2 after Update 4 doesn't display PDFs

asked on August 4, 2021

Yesterday I downloaded KB1014305 which is Web Client 10.4.2 Update 4 and installed it in my development environment.  Today I noticed that when opening PDF documents they don't display.  I get the tool bar for the electronic file browser but the document never displays.  I've tested this in Edge and Chrome with the same results.

My Web Client displays as 10.4.2.667 and the PDFs are generated by Laserfiche Forms 10.4.5.282.

Hi there, we are experiencing the same issues and have a ticket open with out vendor and with Laserfiche.  We have found that the PDF still display if you try to open it using IE (yes, I know it's a dead browser basically but at this time, it works better than the others).

Heads up that we just released Laserfiche Web Client 10.4.2 Update 5 that should hopefully address these PDF display issues.

@████████ thanks for this comment. I don't think I would have found it otherwise; the Web Client page on Support doesn't link to it, nor do I see it on the list of current product hotfixes, though that page is a little cluttered so I may have missed it.

Welcome! I'll note that I've heard a few reports of users still having issues after applying Update 5. In all those cases so far, it seems their browsers still had a cached copy of some/all of the .js files Update 5 has new versions of. Fully clearing their browser cache forced their browsers to pull the updated version and resolved the issue.

You can sanity check if that's the problem by having the user go to Laserfiche in an Incognito browser window (which never has cached files) and try to reproduce the issue.

Shoot, just realized the issue we're experiencing is with WebLink, not Web Access. Any idea if a similar fix is in the works?

Not aware of any, but if you can send me as detailed as possible information on what exactly you're seeing, ideally including screenshots and full URIs, I can check with Dev. If not in the works, and they're the same ones at Web Client fixed, there's a chance we could get them into WebLink 11 (next release).

@████████ , thanks for pointing out that the web client's product page on the support site was not displaying all relevant KBs. That's fixed now.
