Question

How do I resolve multiple steps after correction of a process error?

asked on July 15, 2021

I am VERY new to Laserfiche and have just enough understanding to be very dangerous.  I thought I checked the process for errors after making an update, but clearly DID NOT.  My process has the following processes:
1) Initial
2) Pending
3) Open

However, I was asked to allow some instances to bypass the Pending status based on a specific business scenario.  I added the process, but had the email and save tasks set to save from the "pending" stage form which did not exist in these cases.  The result was many suspended processes.

I corrected the error and all the processes went through.  It kept the Open task, but also created a Pending task in addition.

How do i resolve the pending task without affecting the open one?

Hi Christa,

If you are on Forms 10.4.2 or later version, you can try to Interrupt the Pending task if the step and following steps are no longer needed.

See online help for more explanation https://doc.laserfiche.com/laserfiche.documentation/11/administration/en-us/Default.htm#../Subsystems/Forms/Content/Monitoring-Process-Instances.htm

I just want to confirm that if I interrupt the Pending task it will not impact the ability of the additional Open task to be worked.  Correct?

Interrupt stops processing of the branch at that point, as if the step was a End step.

Yes, interrupting the Pending task should not impact the Open task and following steps as long as those steps don't rely on Pending task.

If you feel uncertain, you can setup a test process to try the functionality.

If you want to cancel all Pending tasks only do this.

Temporarily create an action button for the pending task called End Task. Create a outflow for it that leads to a standard End Event. (do not use a terminate end event)

Still working with the Pending task, temporarily enable Direct Approval under the Form tab.

Go to Monitor, select the Tasks tab on the upper left, and re-assign all Pending tasks to yourself. Should be able to do this in bulk from what I heard on a recent post.

With Direct Approval you can access the action buttons for multiple instances at a time from the right side of the inbox. However it works a bit funky. You seem to have to check all instances, and then just keep mashing the End Task button until they all disappear from your inbox.

After all have reached the End Event and closed out the task, you can undo your changes to the process.

Edit: I have not played around with the Tasks tab yet, you might be able to stop only a single task in there for an even easier method.
