Question

Can I Create a Custom Action to Search on a Different Field in Salesforce Integration on Cloud?

asked on July 14, 2021 Show version history

Hello,

Cloud Integration with Sales Force allows Forms and Workflow to search the Accounts ID. However, the Accounts ID isn't very user friendly, being very long. Is it possible to create a custom action to search by a different ID? In the attached screenshot, the customer would like to search by System Source ID. Can it be added to the Actions menu? Or can the existing Actions be customised?

Hi Ben,

It is possible to search by custom fields using the Salesforce integration by adding a new "Account" object in your Objects list.
When adding a new Account object, it will create the Account object followed by a random 4-digit identifier to differentiate between your custom Account object and the default Account Object.
In your custom Account object, you can add the Fields of interest, and you will then be able to search this Account object by any of the fields.

As an example, I created a new Account object for which I want to search by SLA.

As you can see, in my list of Actions I can Search the Account by a "A searchable field in Account"

In my workflow, I can then search my accounts by SLA.

I hope this helps!

I'm still having issue but that could be environmental. I'll update and click "mark as answer" as soon as I can confirm. Thanks very much for your help so far though!

So it appears that some fields are "encrypted" and can't be searched by. Thankfully, there was an unencrypted variant of the Source ID. Thanks to Nicole who suggested trying the lookup in Workflow, which gave me extra information.
