Is printing image files no longer working in Version 11 Web Client?

posted on July 2, 2021

Installed Version 11 recently and we found that if we use the built in print option for any images file (which normally creates a PDF and opens in a new PDF viewer tab) we just get a grey screen. Also the controls at the top do not respond when trying to click on them.

I went back to another 10.4 system and it works just fine, displaying a PDF version of the image.

Tested with multiple image files and from multiple workstations.

Can you grab a browser DevTools network trace showing the calls that happen from the time you open the image to trying to print the image?

Also which browser and version and exact Web Client build #.

Assuming either Chrome or Edge, can you check if the same thing happens when using Firefox in that environment?

Here is the network trace on the tab that opens when opening the document

Here it is on the tab that opens when printing, no requests at all

I am using Chrome and Web Client version 11 (11.0.2106.3)

Just tested from Microsoft Edge and get the same issue.

Thanks. Can you try Firefox? I would expect Chrome and Edge to behave the same now that they're both built on Chromium.

I've been informed we've reproduced this issue internally and are investigating it as a bug.

Thank you Chad for your post; we have created a bug for this: Bug 331982, Unable to print Image files with audit reason enabled.

What is the status of this bug?  Has there been any movement on a fix?  We have the same issue using Edge.

It is currently targeted for the next 11.0 Patch or Laserfiche 11.0.1. It will be included in the next Web Client 11 release.

Hello Tricia,

I wanted to see if this fix was applied in the newest web client patch, or when it will be available?

Regards,

Hi Drew,

This fix is included in Web Client 11 Update 3, released Sept 17, 2021.

Thank You Sam,

I applied that patch and the issue did not resolve. I will open a case with LF Support to further troubleshoot.

Sorry to hear that and I hope you're able to resolve it through the support case.

If you haven't tried testing with a Chrome Incognito window I would do that though. I've seen a few cases where the browser had cached the old version of some of the updated files and was still loading them instead of the new, fixed ones. If it works in Incognito, try completely clearing your browser cache.

Yes make sure you clear your cache and see if that fixes the issue.

Thanks for that suggestion! Running incognito works. Clearing the cache still retains the issue, but that seems to be on the Chrome side.

Welcome! Make sure you're clearing "Cached images and files" from "All time".

If that doesn't work, I've heard reports that for whatever reason clearing "Site Settings" and "Hosted app data" as well made the difference.

Good Morning All,

Was there ever really a solution to this issue?  I am experiencing the same thing in Laserfiche 11.

Hi Drew,

Do you experience the issue when using an Incognito/InPrivate browsing window? To date, every report we've had of the issue persisting after deploying the patched build of Web Client has been some form of caching issue causing users to still have the old broken version of affected files loaded.

Sorry about the late reply. This issue has been addressed in update 3.

We have a customer running into the same printing issue and I've installed the hotfix above with no luck. Is any other fixes that may address this?
