Question

Laserfiche Scanning Utility

asked on July 1, 2021

Hi Everyone,

I have a project to make using LF Scaning Utily.

Scenario: After the process of scanning, User will key in an invoice number at invoice field.

After the key in of invoice number, the other field must be auto populate by the corresponding information on the invoice number using a lookup.

Question:

It is possible to do with LF Scanning utility?

This is what I want to do.

Thanks

Yes, Laserfiche Scanning supports dynamic fields.

Hi Miruna,

This dynamic field that you say is the external table in the admin console?

If yes, I have already done that option, may issue of this is the slow retrieval of information that corresponds to the invoice number. Especially if I have many invoice numbers in an excel file.

In addition, It is possible that the dynamic field is not converted to a dropdown field when have a value? I mean all fields must remain editable not converted to a dropdown text, remain as a text field?

Yes, dynamic field functionality is provided by external tables. I'm not sure how Excel would be involved there as external tables are SQL tables.

Dynamic fields do restrict the values available for the field. If you need to allow the user to enter their own values, you would have to use Quick Fields and its lookup functionality.

Hi Miruna,

Do you mean on Quick Fields and its lookup functionality are the Omnipage Zone OCR?

Cheers!

I'm not sure what you mean. Are you referring to the Quick Fields add-ons? If yes, I'd recommend reaching our to your regional manager to discuss options.

Hi Miruna,

I mean, in your last replay about the Look up of Quick Field.

You are referring to the Zone OCR or other else?

How to use that Lookup on the Quick Fields?

Cheers!

Zone OCR is one to do it, but you mentioned the user will key in the invoice number. So field lookup is probably the way to go because it gives you the ability to populate the field at scan time from data read from the image as well as allowing the user to edit the data afterwards and have lookup run again.
