Question

Separate Directory server setup for Development and UAT environment

asked on June 29, 2021

Dear Team,

As part of Network security, We are requested to remove all the connection of Development and UAT environment Laserfiche Servers to Production Laserfiche Directory server .

Due to this reason I could see 2 options possible:

1. Setup separate directory server to Dev and UAT environment

2. License the development and UAT servers from Production directory servers, but disable server\modules to look for Laserfiche Directory server connection

Are these options are possible? If yes, how to implement with current Licenses.

Currently we are in Laserfiche 11 in Windows 2019 server, and SQL 2019 server.

Please Advise.

Please have your reseller reach out to his Laserfiche regional manager for licensing options.

To provide a bit of additional public info, the new Laserfiche self-hosted subscription tiers have options for "Sandbox" environments with separate primary licenses so you can have non-production LFDS instances. Per the Laserfiche Pricing page, the Business subscription tier includes Sandbox testing environments. If you're on a different subscription plan that doesn't include Sandbox environments, your Solution Provider can discuss options with their Laserfiche Regional Manager like Miruna suggested.

Option #2 that you listed will not work technically as most applications licensed through LFDS have strict connectivity requirements to it for security and authentication. Most will not even start (or will do so in a limited state) if they cannot connect to LFDS to validate their licenses.
